Night of the Sunflowers

Check out Night of the Sunflowers the debut film of Spanish director, Jorge Sánchez-Cabezudo.

Distributed by Yume Pictures.

I saw a preview a few weeks ago and can highly recommend it.

Some reviews:

This one is probably the best description:

Other comments I've read are criticising if for being like a soap, but I find that an easy way out to describe anything that attempts to show ordinary characters in ordinary lives gearing up to violent events.

Try to see it this weekend, as films are quickly pulled from cinemas if they don't open strongly. Ludicrous criteria to keep a film running or not, but that's the harsh reality of the film industry now. It's either instant money or nothing to prove.

'The soundscape of Miklós Lukács'

'The soundscape of Miklós Lukács' dur.45min.

• Hungarian cymbalom virtuoso Miklós Lukács is a Roma whose radical way of blending traditional gypsy tunes with classical harmonies, contemporary jazz and popular music is taking him and his cymbalom into new and exciting musical territory.

Unsatisfied with the archaic approach the cymbalom is known for, Lukács decided to expand the horizon of this ancient instrument by dedicating himself to the exploration of what he likes to call his “infinite treasure chest".

directed by Mano Camón

OPENING prior to the Karnatic Lab Festival on APRIL 19th at the Bimhuis, centre for jazz and improvised music in Amsterdam. Time: 20.15 hrs.
